Pumpkin quilt blocks for Halloween! This is a foundation paper piecing (FPP) pattern featuring two little jack o'lanterns. They can look sweet or spooky depending on your fabric choices.
This pattern includes templates for two blocks, with options to sew using two different methods: FPP alone, or a simplified FPP template with appliquéd faces.
The finished block sizes are:
- 4˝ x 4˝ (4.5˝ x 4.5˝ unfinished)
- 6˝ x 6˝ (6.5˝ x 6.5˝ unfinished)
Fabric requirements
Background: 12˝ x 12˝ piece
Pumpkin: 10˝ x 10˝ piece for main colour (or 6˝ x 8˝ for the simplified version), plus scraps for face and stem
Best suited for quilters with intermediate paper piecing skills. This pattern assumes that you know FPP and appliqué and does not teach these techniques. If you’re new to either, don’t be afraid to try ... watching a few YouTube videos can get you started.
